NORMAL CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE EXPLAINED (Part 1)

Maybe you are a Christian, maybe not. There is so much information at the press of a button these days that it is important to know what is truth and what is not truth. In these series of blogs, we will present super basic beliefs that Christians hold.

God The Father (YHWH) is the Creator (Genesis 1:1; Ephesians 2:10) and the Sustainer of all Creation and is a personal God who sent His one and only Son (John 6:29, 8:42) to repair the broken relationship between Himself and all human beings.

Jesus Christ is our only Mediator between sinful people and a Holy God (Hebrews 8:6, 9:15, 12:24) and He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).  We believe that God sent Jesus, His only Son, to earth to restore our relationship with Him and that Jesus will return someday for His people (Book of Revelation).  Jesus is God.

The Holy Spirit is not an ‘it’ but ‘He’ and is the often unseen power of God (Genesis 1:2) that dwells in the life of every Christian to provide understanding of spiritual truths, strength for living, and empowerment to uniquely serve.  He is the Counselor promised by Jesus in John 14:16-26.  The Spirit is seen and made visible by the Church.

The Bible is the divinely inspired inerrant Word of God and serves as final authority on what we believe and how we should live as believers in Jesus Christ.  Both the Old Testament (see Psalm 119) and the New Testament (2 Timothy 3:16-17) are for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

Sin is our greatest problem and is at the root of our separation from God and the brokenness in our lives, our families, and in our world (Romans 3:23). 

Salvation is rooted in forgiveness of sin because of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross (Acts 4:12).  A restored fellowship with God comes only by way of the blood of Jesus.  Salvation is a relationship with Jesus Christ and also the promise of eternal life with God in Heaven forever (John 14:3).
